Senator Tom Killion (R-9) and Representative Chris Quinn (R-168) announced they will be hosting a 100% Renewable Energy Expo this weekend.
The expo will be held this Saturday, August 11 from noon until 3:00 p.m. at Penn State University’s Brandywine Campus, 25 Yearsley Mill Road, Media. The event, located in the Tomezsko Classroom Building, is free and open to the public.
The expo will include vendors offering information to residents about renewable energy products and services as well as energy efficiency strategies for homeowners. Public agencies will also provide information about environmental issues and tips for saving money.
PennEnvironment, one of Pennsylvania’s leading environmental protection organizations, will be moderating a forum on renewable energy with a panel of experts during the expo.
Killion and Quinn are co-sponsoring legislation that calls on Pennsylvania to move to 100% renewable energy by the year 2050. This legislative proposal is a high priority for PennEnvironment.
“Renewable energy is critical to Pennsylvania’s future,” said Killion. “Our legislation provides a pathway to reduce greenhouse gases and make the environment healthier for all citizens. The expo will highlight this important issue and show many other ways we can protect our environment,” he added.
“It is important that residents are made aware of environmental issues that not only affect our community, but the rest of the Commonwealth,” Quinn stated. “We want to inform everyone about what the state is doing to address these issues and also provide information on various renewable energy solutions and products that can be utilized to move our state towards renewable energy.”
