Senator Tom Killion (R-9) today announced a $1 million state grant for Aston Township.

The funding, provided by the state’s Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program, will be used to renovate and expand the Aston Township Fire Department’s Green Ridge Fire House on Dutton Mill Road. The current fire house was built over 30 years ago.

“It’s important for the state to support the needs of our firefighters,” said Killion. “This fire house project is critical, and I’m pleased we are helping our volunteer firefighters have the kind of facility they need to protect our communities. As always, we are extremely grateful for the services provided by our firefighters,” he added.

Plans for the fire house include renovating the current 5,250 square foot facility and building a 15,430 square foot addition.

When completed, the new fire house will have six fire truck bays, two bays for emergency medical services, new office space, meeting rooms, bunk rooms, a recreation room and storage areas.
