Senator Tom Killion announced four state environmental grants for Delaware County. The grants are funded by the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection and assist municipalities with recycling collection and education as well as leaf litter pickup.
The grants include $244,808 for Aston Township, $37,962 for Brookhaven Borough, $292,149 for Nether Providence Township and $31,774 for Upper Chichester Township.
The goal of the grants is to boost recycling while reducing the materials that are sent to landfills, and to promote municipal leaf collection practices across the state.
“I am appreciative that Governor Tom Wolf and DEP Secretary Patrick McDonnell awarded these grants,” said Killion. “It is wonderful to see this state funding directed to our local municipalities,” he added.
Killion said, “Our communities and the environment benefit tremendously when we strengthen our recycling and leaf collection programs. These grants are certainly great news for local families and municipal leaders.”
