HARRISBURG — State Rep. Chris Quinn (R-168) and Sen. Tom Killion (R-9) announced a major library grant for Delaware County.
The Middletown Free Library in Middletown Township is receiving a state grant of $750,000 to renovate and relocate to a former school building, allowing them to increase usable library space from 6,076 square feet to 16,670 square feet.
The grant is funded by the state’s Keystone Recreation, Park and Conservation Fund. The Middletown Free Library received the maximum grant amount possible.
Quinn and Killion both strongly supported this grant.
“This is incredible news for Delaware County,” Quinn said. “Libraries are part of the fabric of our communities, and the expansion of the Middletown Free Library will benefit countless families in our area for years to come.”
Killion noted that the Rachel Kohl Library in Concord Township was also awarded an $85,000 state grant to replace an HVAC system and for the addition of natural gas service to the facility.
“The Middletown Free Library and the Rachel Kohl Library have played an incredibly important role in the lives of local families,” said Killion. “These grants will allow them to continue their mission of providing outstanding services in our region.”
