Non-perishables, diapers, school supplies and other items to be collected

Senator Tom Killion (R-Chester and Delaware) is holding a Kids’ Drive to benefit the Maternal and Child Health Consortium of Chester County this Saturday from 10am to 12pm at the East Goshen Township Building located at 1580 Paoli Pike. Killion and staff will be collecting non-perishable food, diapers, school supplies and other items.

“The economic aftershocks of the pandemic continue to affect our neighbors, particularly children” said Killion. “My Kids’ Drive is an opportunity to help children in need of basic necessities as well as make sure they have the supplies to start the new school year.”

This drive is a part of the Maternal and Child Health Consortium of Chester County (MCHCC) “Back to School” campaign. MCHCC empowers families to build a healthier and brighter future for their children by overcoming the social and environmental barriers that lead to poor health conditions in our communities.

MCHCC Executive Director Milena Oberti-Lanz stressed the importance of the drive and also making sure parents are aware of free or low-cost health insurance through Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP).

“We want to ensure that all eligible children have access to health coverage by the time they start school,” said Oberti-Lanz. As part of our Back to School campaign, MCHC distributes back to school supplies with health insurance information throughout the county to over 400 kids. We are so grateful for the support of the community for the children in Chester County.”

“Our community has a tremendous spirit,” said Killion. “Like similar efforts we’ve held since the start of the pandemic, I’m sure we’ll see a generous response from residents in support of those in need.”
