The Commonwealth Financing Authority has awarded $661,829 in grants for five projects in Delaware County, Senator Tom Killion (R-Chester & Delaware) announced today.
“It doesn’t take millions of dollars to make a major difference,” said Killion. “These investments will make possible some great things in the communities receiving these grants.”
Nether Swarthmore Baseball will receive $133,814 for the installation of LED lighting and bleachers at their Houston Park field. With the installation, the organization will be able to almost double the available playing time at the field and allow for the hosting of regional tournaments.
Chadds Ford Township will receive $100,000 for the installation of intersection and sidewalk improvements, pedestrian crosswalks and ADA ramps in Chadds Ford Village to improve connectivity and safety.
Chester Heights Borough will receive $100,000 for the acquisition of almost 12 acres which will be developed into Hamanassett Creek Park.
Edgmont Township will receive $50,656 to reduce sedimentation in Ridley Creek.
Nether Providence will receive $277,359 to reduce sedimentation and mitigate flooding from Vernon Run.
The Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) was established in 2004 as an independent agency of the Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) to administer Pennsylvania’s economic stimulus packages. The CFA holds fiduciary responsibility over the funding of programs and investments in Pennsylvania’s economic growth.
“From providing kids the opportunity to play more baseball to enhancing our natural spaces, these projects are worthy of the grants that have been awarded, and I’m proud to have supported them,” said Killion.
