Senator Tom Killion today announced a $9.9 million loan to the Stormwater Authority of the City of Chester to repair and replace infrastructure and roadway restoration of damage from excessive storm water runoff.  The loan is from the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority (PENNVEST).

“This project will directly benefit the residents of Chester,” said Killion.  “Water quality and storm water management will be greatly improved by the replacement of pipes and other infrastructure.”

The project consists of approximately 9,500 feet of pipe, 65 catch basins, 200 manholes, and associated storm water roadway restoration. Water quality devices such as porous panels, inlet inserts, and filters will be installed to remove trash and sediment from the system and to remove pollutants from the water.

PENNVEST serves the communities and citizens of Pennsylvania by funding sewer, storm water and drinking water projects.  These projects not only contribute to improving Pennsylvania’s environment and the health of its people, they also provide opportunities for economic growth and jobs for Pennsylvania workers.

“PENNVEST plays an important role in ensuring Pennsylvanians have access to clean water and protects our communities from flooding and storm water damage.  I thank PENNVEST for this critical investment in the City of Chester.”
